For close to five hundred years after Vallabhacharya the Jagadguru tradition in Vedanta was lost as nobody wrote Sanskrit commentaries on the Prasthanatrayi until Swami Rambhadracharya in the late twentieth century. His Holiness Jagadguru Rambhadracharya ji has worked for extending free education of handicappers with view to improve their life potentials. Swami Rambhadracharya Ji, who himself is a blind person came forward with missionary zeal to establish the University for persons with disability. The personality of Acharya Shri is prodigious. He can learn buy heart any subject after listening only once and he never forgets it. As a result of this rare quality Jagadguru Shri Rambhadracharya ji has learnt by heart all the twelve works of Goswami Tulsidas ji including Shri Ramcharitmanas, the twelve Upanishads, Brahmsutra, Narad Bhakti Sutra, the whole Bhagawad Gita, Shandilya Sutra and Valmiki Ramayan. Acharya Shri composes devotional poems in Hindi and Sanskrit as well spontaneously on account of the divine inspiration. Everyone feels thrice blessed as one comes in contact with him. In fact he is the crown of Indian saints. Padam Vibhusan Jagatguru Rambadracharya is the saint of our times and we are honored to see him in the flesh and blood. Rambhadracharya is a spritual guru from Ramnandi sect, lifelong chancellor of JRH University of Sanskrit scholar, an author of 100+ books. He is one of four incumbent Jagatguru Ramanandacharya and has held this title since 1988.
Rambhadracharya born Giridhar Mishra to Sanchita Devi and Pandit Rajdev Mishra in a Brahmin family of Vasisth gotra in Shandkhurd village in Jaunpur district, Utter pardesh India. He was born on Makar Sakranti day, 14th January 1950. Giridhar lost his eyesight at the age of two months. He cannot read and write, as he does not use Braille, he learns by listening and composes by dictating to scribes. Giridhar’s initial education came from his parental grandfather by narrating various episodes of Hindu epics Ramayana and Mahabharata.
Giridhar joined the Adrash Gaurisankar senskrit college in 1967and passed the higher secondary examination in Sanskrit with first class and distinction. In 1974 he topped the final examination for the Sastri degree and enrolled for the master degree. He got five out of eight gold medals at all India Sanskrit conference. He received a research fellowship from University Grant Commission and completed his PHD (vidyavardhi) degree. On 19997, he was awarded the post doctorate degree D Lit (vachaspati ) by Sampurnanand University.
In 1976 Giridhar narrated a katha on Ramcharitmanas to swamy Kripatri,who advice him not to marry to stay a life long Bramchari and took Varagi and came to know as Rambhdradas. In 1987 Rambhdradas established a religious and social service institution called Tulsi Peeth in Citarkoot, where lord Rama had spent twelve out fourteen years of exile. He arrange for a temple devoted to Rama and Sita which is known as Glass Temple. In 19995 he was ritually anointed as the Jagatguru Ramanadacharya in Ayodha by the Digamber Akhara, there after he is known as Jagatguru Rambhadracharya.
Rambhadracharya can speak 22 languages and composed poems and literary works in many Indian languages including Hindi Bhojpuri and Guajarati. In 1996 Rambhdracharya established Tulsi School for the blind in Chitarkoot. He founded Rambhdracharya handicapped University which is first university in the world exclusively for the disabled. As of now this university declared among the chief educational institutes of information technology and electronics in Utter Pradesh.
He has authored more than handed books and fifty papers. He is regarded as one of the greatest authorities on Tulsidass in India and he is the editor of a critical edition of Ramchritmanas deposition in historic Ajodhya case. His participation in 84 kosi yatra made him a leader of Viswa Hindu Parishad.His katha programmers are held regularly in different cities in India and other countries which are telecast on different television channels.
AWARDS AND HONOURS
In 2015, Jagatguru Rambhadracharya was awarded Padam Vibhushna, India’s second highest civilian honur. He has been honoured by several leaders and politicians including APJ Abdul Kalam , Smt Indira Gandhi, Somnath Chaterjee and also by several state governments including that do Utter Pardesh,Madhya Pardesh and Himachal Pradesh have conferred honors on him.
