Mata Amritanandamayi Devi also known as “Amma- the Mother of All” is a divine spiritual leader; humanitarian, a divine mother who’s heart is full of selflessness,love & compassion for her children her devotees. She by her smile, her calm eyes and her words can heal the deepest of wound and can remove pain distress in just a few seconds. Mata Amritanandamayi Devi by hugging her devotees assures them she is with them and the love of the divine is with them. She enables the presence of the Supreme by her touch and devotees feel secured and can feel the fragrance, the presence of the Supreme beside them supporting and making them to lead a life in joy and bliss.
MAA AMRITANANDMAYI is known throughout the world as AMMA or mother, for her selfless love and compassion towards all beings. Her entire life has been dedicated to elevating the pain of the poor, and those suffering physically and emotionally. She is widely regarded as one of India’s foremost spiritual leader and mother of world.
Amma was born in a poor fishing family in a village in Kerala (southern part of India) in 1953. She was the third child of Sugunandan and Damyanti. She has six siblings. Even as a small child, she draws attention with the many hours, she spent in deep meditation on the seashore. Her composition revealed remarkable depth and wisdom. When she was nine years old, her mother become ill and Sudhamani (Amma) was withdrawn from school in order to help with household tasks. Where Sudhamani encountered people in need, she brought them food and clothing from her own house. She was undeterred by the scolding and punishment she received from her family for doing so. Responding to her affectionate care people began to call her, AMMA.
Amma was deeply affected by the profound sufferings, she witnessed, Amma moved forward with confidence in her life of service and compassionate care for all beings. She began attracting followers, while they felt that there was something mystifying in her reflective state of consciousness. For her devotees, Amma reflected the Hindu Avatar SRI KRISHNA and took the form and characteristics of the GOD. Sometime later, she came to known as MATA AMRITANANDMAYI and AMMA.
AMMA had a few followers, who wished to remain under her guidance for ever. They soon formed an Ashram to devote themselves to spiritual practice, which is today known as AMRITPURI located in Kerala. The Ashram devolved over the past years and is also known as MA AMRITANANDMAYI MATH. It runs as a parent organization, a trust under which several sprituals, educational, social and cultural activities ara preformed. Ever since 1981 Amma has been teaching spiritual believers all over the world, the ancient traditions of YOGA and VEDANTA. Known as hugging Saint Amma offer warm hugs to everyone who comes to meet her. She is known to individually hug over 50000 people in a day and at least more than 25 million people in the past 25 years.

Embracing the world, Amma’s network of charity organizations, provide food ,housing ,education and medical services for the poor. This global network exists in forty countries around the world. Following the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami the origination provided food and shelter to thousands of people especially in the areas where Indian Government’s aid was inadequate. Amritanandmayi’s organizations has been cleaning thru PAMPA river and SABRIMALA temple since 2012. Amma donated $ 15 million to the Government of India’s NAMAMI GANGE. Amma pledged that her NGO dedicate another $ 15 million to the Government of India to toilet constructing. Amma donated five crores of rupees to the flood relief fund to the chief minister of Tamilnadu.

Maa Amritanandmayi has recorded more than 1000 bhajans, or devotional songs in 35 languages. Amma’s disciples have transcribed her conversations with devotee and spiritual scholar to create approximately a dozens of books of her teaching known as ‘Awaken Children’. She also writes a regular blog in the spiritual publication ‘Speaking Tree’. Various documentaries have been made about her.
